Knox Gibson is 9 years old and he loves being in front of the camera – his mum Kate describes him as “very confident, stubborn, determined, independent and cheeky”.
Knox featured in the Kmart toys television commercial that aired in December 2016 and loved the experience.
He also featured in a television commercial for Breeze laundry detergent in Singapore which involved a 2 day shoot in Sydney.
Knox is also a budding musician and has been taking drumming lessons driven by a love of AC/ DC’s music. He uses a prosthetic arm but usually only for specific activities, like getting dressed, riding his bike, playing cricket, using a skipping rope – and playing his drums.
Knox told us that he would like to see more amputees like him on TV and that he was very excited last year when Kelly Cartwright was on “Dancing with the Stars!”. Knox also said that being in ads will mean that “less people will stare when they meet people like me for the first time” – it’s about accepting people for who they are.
We are proud to have Knox as an Ad Inclusion Ambassador. Each of our Ambassadors helps to represent, through advertising imagery, Starting With Julius‘ inclusive vision of a world in which no one is excluded and everyone belongs.
